Titre : The Wave Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Morton Rhue, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Importance : 145 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-14-132260-5 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : "The Wave is a true story. History teacher Ron Jones started
‘the Wave’ in one of his lessons in 1969, and it turned into
one of the most frightening things he had ever seen in a
school. He later wrote a short story about it, and this was
then turned into a full-length novel by Morton Rhue and
published in 1981.
Summary
When Ben Ross, a history teacher at an American high
school, shows his students a film about the Nazis and
what they did during the Second World War, they are
shocked. The students ask him how it was possible for
such a party to become so powerful in a civilised country.
Mr Ross cannot answer this question himself, but he
decides to try an experiment that might answer it. Over
the next few days he introduces his class to some new
ideas. He tells them that they are going to be part of a
team called ‘the Wave’. The aim of the team is success, and
for success you need discipline. To Mr Ross’s amazement,
the students like the Wave and the new discipline. They
begin to work much harder and do more homework. It
is as if this is what they have wanted all along. Very soon,
almost everyone in the school wants to join the Wave. But
it becomes clear that there is a darker side to such a team,
and soon the Wave is out of control.(Pinguin Readersbook)Age : A partir de 10 ans The Wave [texte imprimé] / Morton Rhue, Auteur . - 2007 . - 145 p.

Titre : The woman in black Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Susan Hill, Auteur Editeur : Macmillan Readers Année de publication : 2008 Importance : 57 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-023-03745-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : "A classic ghost story: the chilling tale of a menacing specter haunting a small English town. Arthur Kipps is an up-and-coming London solicitor who is sent to Crythin Gifford--a faraway town in the windswept salt marshes beyond Nine Lives Causeway--to attend the funeral and settle the affairs of a client, Mrs. Alice Drablow of Eel Marsh House. Mrs. Drablow's house stands at the end of the causeway, wreathed in fog and mystery, but Kipps is unaware of the tragic secrets that lie hidden behind its sheltered windows. The routine business trip he anticipated quickly takes a horrifying turn when he finds himself haunted by a series of mysterious sounds and images--a rocking chair in a deserted nursery, the eerie sound of a pony and trap, a child's scream in the fog, and, most terrifying of all, a ghostly woman dressed all in black."
